Son dresses as dead mother to scam govt. for her pension
In this DML Report…
Italian authorities discovered a 56-year-old unemployed man had been impersonating his deceased mother to collect her pension payments, while concealing her mummified body in their family home in Borgo Virgilio, near Mantua. The man dressed in a wig, applied makeup, and mimicked her appearance to renew her identity card at a government office on the outskirts of Mantua. The scheme came to light when a government employee observed inconsistencies, including masculine features such as a low voice and thick neck, and compared the individual's appearance to previous photos of the mother. Following the report, police searched the home and found the body hidden in a sleeping bag in the laundry room.
The mother, Graziella Dall’Oglio, was 82 at the time of her death three years ago, which was not reported to authorities. Over that period, the son collected approximately $61,000 annually from her pension and managed a property portfolio consisting of three houses. The son cooperated by allowing the search of the residence.

The man is under investigation for illegally concealing a body and committing benefit fraud. No foul play is suspected in the mother's death, which authorities believe resulted from natural causes, though a postmortem examination will confirm this. Borgo Virgilio Mayor Francesco Aporti described the situation as "a very strange story and very, very sad." The son has not been arrested at this time.
